This Months' Spotlight is for the sake ofLovers,  Sentimental Fools,  Or just Plain Beach Bums. "Tumbled by waves and transformed by sand, nature gives us back 'beach glass', unexpected and beautiful." What happens when you spend time on Lake Erie beaches?  Inevitably, you find yourself walking in the surf.  More times than not a small glimmer of color will catch your eye.    Though generally only a tiny glimmer in the sand, beach glass never ceases to inspire the unanswerable questions. Where did it come from?  How did it get here?  How long has it been out there?   Some might ask; is it a discarded bottle from recent decades, or could it be a lost relic centuries-old? Perhaps it came from one of the many shipwrecks that Lake Erie is so famous for—perhaps the war of 1812?! The possibilities are endless!

Erie artisans Jennifer and Terri, are sisters who have combined their skills, talents, and love for beach glass, together, to create Relish, Inc, an Erie based  jewelry design studio featuring Lake Erie Beach Glass.  Jennifer and Terri built their business by once spending endless days at the beach with their young children in tow.  They scoured the sand for the elusive, transformed bits of glass. They carried garbage bags to fill, in part to help keep the shores free from litter and debris, but also to give back to the community that was supporting their art. Their hard work and drive for the American dream paid off in 2001, when they opened a new 3,000 square foot studio and gallery.   Their passion remains the same eight years later: to create beautiful jewelry in sterling silver and 14k gold, using pieces of genuine found Lake Erie beach glass. They have been in business now for close to14 years and invite you to come and visit their gallery which in addition to their jewelry also features an eclectic array of unique gift ideas.Everything they design comes from things they love.  Memories of the beach, turning raw beauty into treasures, fulfilling their dreams.  That's American!  That's Made in the USA!  * When MadeByYankees staff asked Relish owners what their thoughts are on the 'made in the USA' concept... Our thoughts on 'made in the usa'  "Jennifer and I were asked 10 yrs. ago if we wanted to ship our glass overseas to be drilled at a lower cost.  Immediately we knew that was absolutely not an option.  The community that supports your business should be the community that you support."
